The Princess Gwenllian Centre (PGC) is a community facility located in the historic town of Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire, operated by the charitable organisation Kidwelly Town Community Hall (Charity No. 0172181).
Our charity’s Objective, as described in our Constitution, is:
“The provision, maintenance and management of a Community Centre for the use of the inhabitants of Kidwelly and the surroundings thereof without distinction of age, sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions, including use for meetings, lectures and classes and for other forms of recreation and leisure time occupations, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.”
The Centre receives an annual grant from Kidwelly Town Council, which forms part of the Town Council’s community investment to promote local well-being and sustainability.
The Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 places a legal duty on all public bodies in Wales, including Town and Community Councils, to take all reasonable steps towards achieving the national well-being goals and to act in accordance with the sustainable development principle.
As a key local partner and recipient of Town Council funding, the Princess Gwenllian Centre plays an active role in supporting the Town Council’s compliance with these legislative responsibilities. The Centre’s governance, operations, and community programmes align closely with the seven national well-being goals and the five ways of working promoted under the Act.
